Principal’s Message – Issue Fifteen

A Prayer for Our Confirmation Candidates

Father of love and power, it is your will to establish everything in Christ
and to draw us into his all-embracing love.
Guide these candidates as they begin their preparation for Confirmation.
Strengthen them in their baptismal promises,
build them into the kingdom of your Son,
and seal them with the Spirit of your love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

Principal’s Message – Issue Fifteen

Education Assistant Appointment Pre-Primary M

With Mrs Janelle Shine due to commence her Maternity Leave, Mrs Karen Whittaker has been appointed in the role of PPM Education Assistant commencing in Term 3. Mrs Whittaker is an experienced Education Assistant and is currently working at St Brigid’s Middle Swan. We warmly welcome Mrs Whittaker to the OLA staff and wish Mrs Shine all the best as she takes this exciting step on her journey into motherhood.

P&F Volunteers

At OLA, our many community events rely on the help of parent volunteers. Our wonderful P&F work tirelessly to ensure that there are numerous activities on offer throughout the year for our families. Unfortunately, the number of additional volunteers has been quite low this year and we may need to cancel some of the planned events. If you are able to assist in any way, for any event, then please contact the P&F directly. Further information about volunteer positions can be found on the P&F page of this newsletter and previous newsletters. Thank you to those families who always volunteer their time for school events, we truly appreciate all that you do for our community.

Scitech and STEM Club at OLA

Commencing in Term 3, Scitech will be offering a STEM/Robotics Club at OLA. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

National Reconciliation Week

This week, we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week. Many of our classes discussed the significance of this event in Australia. Through class discussions, children made the links between our RICE values and what they can do to promote harmony in our community. Remembering that Grounded in Truth: Walk Together in Courage.

Assembly – Change of Date

Due to the P&F Bogan Bingo, the 3M assembly (originally scheduled for Friday 14 June) has now been postponed to Friday 21 June. We look forward to seeing their exciting item in Week 8!

Week 6 Newsletter

Due to the short week next week, there will be no newsletter published on Friday 7 June.

Uniform Shop Update

As you are aware, the OLA school uniform is under review. The School Board has decided to outsource the design, manufacture, supply and sales of the new uniforms. This means when all new items become available, they will be available for purchase offsite. As a result, the School Uniform Shop is now closed. We sincerely thank Mrs Tania Longman for her years of service at OLA and her contribution to our community. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Have a great weekend!

Mr Greg Martin
