Principal’s Message – Issue Twenty Four

Sacrament of Eucharist

Over the last two weekends, our Year 4 students have joined with the OLA Parish to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist. It was wonderful to see the students’ preparation and dedication to their faith come to fruition during the Masses. Sincere thanks to Fr Ken, Franco and Maria from the Parish, and to our Year 4 teachers, Miss Versace, Miss Smith and Mrs Tollis. The days would not have been possible without their support, preparation and commitment to the Communicants.

Book Week

What a turnout we had at the Book Week Parade on Wednesday! It was fantastic to see everybody get into the spirit of the week, including the staff! Thank you to Mrs Durkin and Mrs Dale for their organisation of the week’s events, including the book sale, parade and colouring competition. Please see the Library section of this newsletter for additional information about the week.

OLA Open Night

Next Wednesday evening, all families are invited to attend the OLA Open Night between 6pm and 7pm. Classrooms will be open for families to visit and view students’ work throughout the evening. Children will guide families through the visit, including a trip to the Curiosity Lab, Music Room and Out of School Hours Care. You may like to join us for a warm cup of milo after your walk through, it will be on sale in the Canteen for $1 a cup.

All our teachers will be present at the Open Night. However, it is not intended that this will be an opportunity for individual interviews relating to student progress. Should you wish to schedule an interview, you are very welcome to contact the class teacher, and s/he will contact you directly to schedule this at a mutually convenient date.

Congratulations

Well done to Charlotte in Year 2 who competed in the Gymnastics Australia National Level 5s at the Judge’s Invitation Competition last weekend. Charlotte has been training hard over the last nine months to develop her gymnastics technique. Her next competition is on Father’s Day, we wish her all the best with her upcoming competition!

Save the Date – Father’s Day Celebrations

Our annual Father’s Day event is almost here. Mark your diaries – Friday 30 August from 7.30am. More details will be sent home on Monday via the Weekly Updates.

Student Absences

Over the coming weeks, OLA will be having a Student Attendance Audit carried out by the Department of Education. Please ensure that whenever your child is absent, a written note is provided, emailed through or entered via the app. Thank you for your support with this.

Have a great weekend
