Principal’s Message – Issue Twenty Seven

Dear God

Lord, help us to be thankful for one another. Help our children to be thankful for each other, for our school community to be grateful for each member and to pray for one another continually. Our gratitude for one another will bind us together as a community, and our prayers for each other will further unify us in gratitude and love.

Amen

NSI School Climate Surveys

As we continue to review our school, processes, programs, Strategic and Annual School Improvement Plans, all community members are invited to complete a survey (see attached flyer). Students, in Years 3-6, as well as all staff, will also be invited to complete the surveys. Data received from the surveys, as well as other sources, will be used to plan our strategic direction, for 2020, and beyond. Hard copies will also be available, from the OLA Administration Office, from Monday 16 September. The closing date for the surveys is Friday 18 October, 2019 (First week back in Term 4).

WA Tennis Industry Awards Finalist

We are proud to announce that OLA has been named as one of the finalists in the WA Tennis Industry Awards for Most Outstanding School. The awards will be held on Friday 11 October and Mrs Stewart will represent OLA at the event. Congratulations to Mrs Stewart for this esteemed nomination. We truly thank her for her efforts with bringing tennis alive at OLA!

Bubs Play at OLA

Today marked the commencement of our new program, Bubs Play at OLA. The program was supported by Dianne from Playgroup WA and was attended by 18 families from the community. Mrs Sloss did an amazing job with facilitating the session and organising the play space. We look forward to this program continuing every week at OLA.

Dance Concert

This week you would have received an email regarding dance costumes for the upcoming concert on Wednesday 25 September at 2pm. Families are asked to please have the costumes ready for the performance date, with all items labelled as children will be changing throughout the day. It is hoped that parents will have these items at home and not need to purchase anything new. The information letter is attached for you.

School Disco

Sincere thanks to the P&F and Year 5 parents who contributed to the success of last Friday night’s disco. It was a fantastic night full of colour, cool dance moves and smiling faces! Please refer to the P&F page of this newsletter for a wrap up of the night.

Spelling Mastery

As we commenced the Spelling Mastery program in Term 2 this year, we are aiming to complete the course by next term. As a result, Spelling Mastery is now commencing at 8.45am so we ask that children please arrive to school on time so that they can settle into class prior to moving into their Spelling Mastery groups. Classrooms open at 8.30am each morning and the bell goes at 8.40am to commence the school day.

Lost Property

Please check the lost property box located outside the School Office to see if your child’s clothing or containers are there. Any items that are unclaimed by Friday 20 September will be donated or disposed of. Thank you for your support with this.
