Principal’s Message – Issue Thirty Two

Prayer

May all the Saints, pray for us and for all those whose lives we touch.
May God, Who loves and holds us all, let the Spirit guide all our days in the ways of compassion and justice.
May we reflect the heart of God, sure in faith, strong in hope, built on love and become all that we are called to be.
And may our journey lead us into God’s gentle and almighty Presence, our God whom we will one day see face to face.

Amen

The time has come to announce the exciting return of the OLA Community Fete. All monies raised from the event will go towards the refurbishment of the Curiosity Lab and the Veritas Library Hub. Thank You

A BIG thank you to the wonderful P&F for coordinating our World Teacher’s Day Morning Tea last Friday. We were spoilt with many delicious treats from our generous families. To all staff, thank you for all that you do for our school.

Year 6 2020 Student Leadership Elections

All current Year 5 students are invited to nominate for Year 6 Student Leadership roles in 2020. Ms Knight and Mr McIntyre are currently preparing the students for their presentations, focusing on what makes them a good leader. We wish all of our students the best and look forward to announcing the new 2020 Student Leaders in Week 7.

Staffing Update

I would like to extend my congratulations to Mrs Stewart’s husband who has been appointed as Head of Junior School of Prince Alfred College in Adelaide, commencing 2020. Mrs Stewart will be leaving OLA at the end of the year to make the exciting move with her family. On behalf of the community, I would like to thank Mrs Stewart for all that she has contributed to OLA, and we wish her all the best as she embarks on this new adventure with her family.

Mrs Aimee Waller has resigned from her position at OLA as she has accepted a new teaching job in the independent sector. Mrs Waller has been on maternity leave since 2014. Mrs Maryanne Petkovic has retired from teaching after her year of long service leave. Mrs Petkovic has been an outstanding early childhood educator at OLA for many years and she is now planning to spend plenty of time nurturing her grandchildren.

Ms Juliet Lennon has resigned from her position as Social Worker at OLA at the end of 2019 due to other commitments and family reasons. The Social Worker position will be advertised in the coming weeks.

We will farewell Jodie, Aimee, Maryanne and Juliet at the End of Year Thanksgiving Mass.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mrs Ella Galipo who is expecting her second baby in April 2020. Mrs Galipo will remain at OLA for the beginning of 2020. Wonderful news for you and your family, Ella!

Booklists 2020

Student booklists for 2020 are currently in the process of being finalised. OLA will be using the same supplier as last year, West School Supplies, for booklists this year.

New Uniform Update

The new OLA school uniforms are well and truly underway. Nell Gray commenced the production of the items and it is anticipated that they will be available for purchase in the new year. We will keep you updated about the process in the coming weeks.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

On Sunday 17 November, the OLA P&F will be running the Bunnings Morley sausage sizzle. Volunteers are asked to please sign up to assist on the day. For further information, please refer to the P&F page of this newsletter.
