End of School Year Prayer
God of wisdom,
We thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school year.
We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in Christ,
and for choosing us to be your people.
As we come to the end of this school year, we voice our gratitude for the good things you have done in us, and we praise you for all who have shared in the work of this school.
We ask you to bless them in your love and give them refreshment and peace. We praise you, God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Water Fun Day Pre-Primary to Year 5 and Adventure World Year 6
Wednesday was a fun-filled day for all at OLA! Our Pre-Primary to Year 5 students celebrated the end of a wonderful school year on the Active Games inflatables. The sound of laughter and squeals filled the school all day. With all of the excitement happening at OLA, our Year 6s ventured to Adventure World for their end of year celebration. The excursion was attended by many staff members and parents to celebrate the many accomplishments of these students during their time at OLA.
Farewell Mass
This morning, we said farewell to our Year 6 graduating students and departing staff. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the following staff for their many years of service to the OLA community:
– Mrs Julie Couper
– Mrs Velma Erskine
– Mrs Angela Ireland
– Mr Justin Kirry
– Mrs Juliet Lennon
– Miss Holly Lombardi
– Mrs Jenny McLeod
– Mrs Margaret Menegola
– Mrs Christine Peters
– Mrs Maryanne Petkovic
– Mrs Jodie Stewart
– Mrs Aimee Waller
OLA would not be the place that it is today without the hard work and dedication of these staff members. Thank you for all that you have done for OLA and on behalf of the OLA community, I wish you all the best in the future.
School Calendar 2020
Please find attached the 2020 calendar. The interactive calendar on the website has the most up to date information, please check this on a regular basis. An updated calendar will be attached, to the first newsletter, when we return in 2020.
2020 Invitation to all Students
In addition to our transition program that was held this week, parents are invited to bring their children on 30 January or 31 January, 2020 to once again meet their teachers, bring their stationery and booklists and possibly be allocated their seat. We’re hoping the students won’t feel as anxious over the weekend leading up to the start of the new school year on Monday 3 February, 2020. If parents are not able to bring their children on the above stated days, they will be welcomed on the first day of school, which is Monday 3 February, 2020. The times allocated for both days will be:
- 8.30-10.30am
- 11.00-12.30pm
- 1.15-3.00pm
New School Uniform Update
We have confirmation that the first shipment of OLA’s brand new uniforms have arrived at the Nell Gray Inglewood Superstore. The final shipment of the summer stock is due in before the store closes for their Christmas break on Wednesday 18 December. I am pleased to announce that families will be able to purchase all of the summer uniform items and booklist accessories (e.g. library bag, homework folder) as of Monday 6 January 2020. Families are encouraged to visit the store to try on sizes as your children may be a different size in comparison to our old uniform items.
Information Regarding the Change to Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA Ltd)
As of 1 January 2020, OLA will become part of CEWA Ltd. Please read the letter attached for further information.
Reflection on 2019
Two years have now passed since I commenced my principalship at OLA and I can truly say that I feel extremely proud of being a part of this community. As one, we reflect the RICE values, showing respect, integrity, compassion and excellence both towards each other and in our actions.
It has been a joy to watch the growth of the students in all domains, including spiritual, academic and social. The smiles each morning as students and family members arrive for the morning fitness program and to start the school day is a testament to how wonderful this school is. I thoroughly enjoy being present at the front gates before and after school to speak with everyone about topics ranging from the latest footy game, to gymnastics accomplishments, to getting a new puppy. These daily conversations make me feel welcome in the lives of the families at OLA.
A special thanks to the families who support OLA in so many ways. To the School Board, P&F, classroom volunteers and everyone who gives of their time to OLA. Thank you for your contributions, your generosity of time is what supports us in implementing our programs.
To the staff of OLA, words cannot express my gratitude for all that you do to make OLA a better place. We have accomplished many things in 2019, including the introduction of programs such as Brightpath and Spelling Mastery, new initiatives such as morning fitness and lunch time clubs. Thank you for the countless hours of hard work you put into the school.
To our Year 6 graduating students, I wish you every success as you move on from your school life at OLA. Take your achievements from here, learn from them and use them to achieve even greater things as your futures are so bright. I hope you know that you will always be a part of the foundation of OLA, just as OLA will always be a part of your foundation. I leave you all with the following:
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.
