Cybersafety – A Parent’s Guide to Fortnite
In researching more about Fortnite I came across several articles that also have the word ‘addiction’ in the title. Epic Games, the company that makes Fortnite, was even investigated by the US government in relation to how the game had been created to be addictive. This article from the ABC explores the concept of the game being addictive, what makes it addictive and how to read the signs in your child if you think they have become addicted to the game. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-11/fortnite-is-addiction-really-a-thing/9981528
Once you start showing an interest, or wanting to know more about the game you will hear your kids use terms such as dropzone, battle royale, save the world, twitch, playing squad, playing solo and many other terms that are either specific to Fortnite or to online multiplayer games. The following article breaks down many questions that parents ask when learning about the game. It is well worth the read. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/parents-ultimate-guide-to-fortnite
I hope you find the above information useful.
