My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen

Leadership Message – Issue Eight

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Sacrament of Eucharist

Congratulations to all our Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first-time last weekend. With three masses scheduled, due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the celebrations were well organised and meaningful to the children and families. A huge thank you to Mary Barclay, Brian McIntyre and the parish catechists who prepared the children for the celebrations and for coordinating the events. A huge thank you to Mary McAuliffe for coordinating the music and to our wonderful choirs who sang at the different celebrations. Thank you also to all the staff who gave up their time and attended the celebrations and supported the Year 4 staff and children and to Fr Ken for his spiritual guidance.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to all the students in Years 3 & 5 who took part in this year’s NAPLAN assessments. Thank you to the teachers who ensured their students were ready for the assessments and for creating ‘stress free’ environments. Congratulations everyone.

National Sorry Day

Every May 26 in Australia, National Sorry Day is celebrated and the day reminds us all of the ‘Stolen Generations’. National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of the ‘Stolen Generations Survivors’ and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for the people and our nation. People of Aboriginal descent have made incredible contributions to Australia, as a whole, in the fields of art, music, law, medicine, entertainment, and more and we acknowledge these contributions every day as we come together, as one nation and family, and embrace the diversity Australia has to offer.

Riding Bikes

It is wonderful to see a number of families riding their bikes to school each day as this promotes fitness and decreases the carbon footprint. A reminder all students and parents are requested to ‘walk’ their bikes on and off the school property and not ride them in and out of the school.

Café OLA

Support the school and purchase your morning coffee from the school canteen every Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Freshly ground beans are used to make the coffee.  Coffees are sold every Tuesday and Thursday from 8.00am – 9.0am to parents. As mentioned previously, the canteen staff will also be selling muffins and other items.

OLA Winter Uniform

We have been advised there is a shortage of certain size jumpers at Nell Gray. These are all on back order and should arrive in the near future. In the interim, students may wear their new school tracksuit tops until the jumpers arrive at Nell Gray.

Circuit Morning Fitness

Since introducing the daily morning fitness program, students have participated actively in the program, with music playing in the background. We now would like to move to the next phase of the morning fitness program and organise circuit activities, with planned sporting activities for the students, on a daily basis. To achieve our aim of an organised circuit for the students, we require parent assistance at each station, on a daily basis. If you’re able to assist, and it doesn’t have to be every day, please email Ciaran at ciaran.allsop@cewa.edu.au who currently organises the morning fitness program. Once parents indicate their support for the program by volunteering to assist, Ciaran will coordinate a roster and distribute to all volunteers. Looking forward to your support and assistance with the above.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Thank you.
