Rhythm Rocks at OLA
All our classes from Pre-Primary to Year 6 receive a 50-minute music lesson each week, where the students sing, play instruments and learn some music theory. This term, the main focus is on beat and rhythm, and we are preparing for a whole school performance of a piece specially composed and arranged for OLA by Kaboom Percussion. Each class has its own rhythm, which the students are rehearsing on a wide variety of instruments – body percussion, chairs, sticks, tables, bucket drums, recorders, ukuleles, xylophones and plastic cups! On Wednesday of Week 8, Kaboom personnel will video record each class playing their rhythm, and following editing, the video will be available for the students and their families to enjoy via the school website and Facebook page.
On that day, Wednesday 25 March, we request that students wear the following uniforms:
2G, 3G and 3M: academic uniform
6G and 6M: Leavers’ Aqua shirts
All other students: sports uniform
If your child has the new uniform, we would appreciate if they could wear it on the day.
If your child does not have permission for photos/video, we will ensure that they do not appear in the video, though they are of course learning the lively rhythms. Should you have any queries, please feel free to contact me at mary.mcauliffe@cewa.edu.au
