Principal’s Message – Issue Thirty Five

Prayer for Christ the King

O Lord our God, You alone are the Most Holy King and Ruler of all nations.
We pray to You, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving from You, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things.
Protect, O Lord our King, our families and the land of our birth.
Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us,
as we trust in Your Great Mercy.

Amen

All volunteers are invited to attend our Thank You Morning Tea on Thursday 28 November at 9am. Staffing and Leave 2020

Attached is the staffing allocations for 2020. Please be advised the placements listed on the attached document are not finalised and staff may still be redeployed to other positions before the commencement of the new school year (2020). Community members will be advised if changes are made to the staffing list.

Staffing 2020

In 2020, I will be taking Long Service Leave (LSL) and Professional Renewal Leave (PRL) from Term 2, 2020 until the 31 December, 2020. Our Assistant Principal, Michael Morris has been appointed as the OLA Principal and Rebecca Smith, our other Assistant Principal, will be taking on both Assistant Principal roles, during my time away.

Michael is an experienced leader who has had previous Principalship experience. I am extremely happy with our CEWA Executive Director’s decision of appointing Mike, as the principal, as I believe continuity is imperative at OLA so the school can continue with the same direction and vision we currently have in place. During Michael’s reign as principal, Rebecca will be taking on both Assistant Principal Roles and will be the full time Assistant Principal (from Term 2). Anella and Belinda will also continue to be part of the OLA Extended Leadership Team in 2020.

As you can appreciate, Michael and Rebecca (Michael will have the final say) will be making all the decisions from the first day in Term 2, 2020 and I will not be interfering with the decisions made from the above stated day. Any decisions made, by Michael and the Leadership Team, during my absence, will be endorsed when I return in 2021 – this includes decisions made by the Leadership Team on staffing and allocation of staff to positions and roles in 2021.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

This year, we are asking all OLA families to make a gift donation to the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. This appeal seeks to assist others in need including; low-income families, those who are homeless and refugees and migrants. Families are asked to please donate a gift for a child the same age and gender as their own child. For example, a female Year 1 student would purchase a gift for a female 6 or 7 year old. Please give donations (no gift wrapping required) to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 28 November. We thank you for your generosity and support with this initiative.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

What a wonderful turnout we had at Bunnings Morley on Sunday. Thank you to Marc Lehmann and the P&F for coordinating yet another fundraiser for our school community.

Altar Server Training

The OLA Parish invites all students in Years 4-6 to attend altar server training on this Sunday, 24 November at 4pm. Fr Ken, Franco Miranda and Nathan Leber (Safeguarding Officer) will meet the children in the Fr O’Mara Centre for a pizza snack followed by training in the church. Families may then like to stay for 5pm Mass after the training session.

It is almost that time of year again, the End of Year Concert is almost upon us! Please join us on Wednesday 4 December at 6pm to celebrate the end of a wonderful year. Costumes for the concert will be included in next week’s newsletter.
