We pray for all our mothers and for those who perform a motherly role in our lives.

May your energy of gentleness, love and compassion guide us in our roles to be all that we can be as mothers and mother figures.

May we all show our mothers the honour and respect that they deserve.

Bless them always.

Amen.

Principal’s Message – Issue Seven

Dear Parents and Caregivers

With now over 95% of students back at school, it has been a wonderful experience to see so many of our children return to school this week. Looking down, from the first balcony onto the ‘dance floor’, it has been a pleasure to see so many independent and resilient children carrying their back packs and making their way to their classrooms. It has also been a great experience to witness older children taking their siblings to their classrooms. Community is extremely important in our schools, however, developing independence and resilience in children is just as important.

As we move towards 100% of students back at school, parents may like to consider continuing dropping their children off at school, as they have been doing over the last few weeks, and making their way to their daily tasks, leaving their children to continue to develop independence and resilience – food for thought.

As communicated previously, and directed/advised by CEWA and the Department of Health, parents and caregivers (and visitors) are not permitted on school property other than to drop off or pick up their children from the assigned drop off/pick up points.

Staff members will be on duty at these various locations and will take the children to their classrooms (Students in Years 3-6 will be permitted to walk over themselves to their classrooms). All teachers will be in their classrooms to welcome their students and prepare them for the learning to occur during the day.

The three assigned drop off / pick up points are:

  1. Chester Ave gate
  2. Flag pole gate (pedestrian access via bitumen)
  3. Early childhood gate (pedestrian access via bitumen)
  • Kindergarten – Year 1 Students

Will be escorted to the Early childhood gate. Parents are requested to wait on the bitumen area (Church carpark).

Kindergarten and Pre-Primary children will be collected from their parents by staff from those classes to make the transition as smooth as possible.

  • Year 2 – 3 Students

Will be escorted to the Flag pole gate. Parents are requested to wait on the bitumen area (Church carpark).

  • Year 4 – 6 Students

Students will make their way to the Chester Ave gate Parents are requested to wait outside the school grounds.

NB: If you have children in a number of different year levels, please advise your older children which collection point you will be at so you can collect all of your children from the one meeting place.

We understand that this may not be ideal, but also request that parents try to adhere to social distancing measures.

COVID-19 Update

No new COVID-19 updates have been received.

Merit Certificates

We will be recommencing distributing OLA Merit Certificates in the classrooms. With parents not permitted in the classrooms, these presentations will be recorded and sent to parents via Seesaw. You will be advised, by the classroom teachers, if your children will be receiving a certificate and you will then be able to view the Seesaw post.

Term Planners

As soon as restrictions are lifted and people are permitted to congregate in large numbers, the updated Term Planner will be updated and sent home to families. We are planning to have extra assemblies during the remaining terms to make up for the assemblies cancelled, over the last few weeks, and last term. Watch this space.

Sacramental Celebrations

As mentioned previously, Sacramental Celebrations will not be proceeding in 2020, as directed by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, however with COVID-19 decisions being made, on a daily basis, this may change. If this is the case, in consultation with Fr Ken, we will consider having the celebrations in Terms 3 & 4. No decision will be made until we determine the logistics of having so many celebrations over a short period of time. Community members will be advised.

Semester One Reports

No decision has been made, by the WA Government and CEWA, as to how the Semester One reports will look like. As soon as I am informed, the community will be advised of the decision.

Mother’s Day

To our all our wonderful mothers and mother figures in our community, I hope you all had a great day last Sunday and that you were all spoilt.
