Prayer

God Almighty giver and sustainer of life,
For those whose homes are threatened by fire,
we ask your mercy.
For those whose lives are threatened by flames,
We pray for your protection.
For those who have lost all their possessions,
We prayer for your comfort.
For those whose health is impaired by smoke,
We pray for your healing.
Be with those who respond,
Keep safe firefighters, police and volunteers.
Make their efforts effective.
God in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.

Amen

Remembrance Day Liturgy

On Monday morning, the Year 5 students led us in our annual Remembrance Day Liturgy. Our poppies were worn with pride and were provided by the Mt Lawley – Inglewood RSL Sub-Branch as recognition of our contribution to the Poppy Appeal for 2019. During this time, we remembered fallen service men and women and thanked them for their contributions. It was a time to reflect on all that we are grateful for.

Toiletries and Free Dress

Yesterday, our students gave generously to St Vincent de Paul through our Toiletries and Free Dress Drive. Boxes of donations were overflowing, and we are so proud of the students for demonstrating the RICE value of compassion in such a meaningful way.

Volunteers’ Morning Tea

All volunteers are invited to attend our Thank You Morning Tea on Thursday 28 November at 9am. Morning tea will be held in the Fr O’Mara Centre and we hope that all volunteers can attend so that we can show our appreciation for all that you do in our school community – we would not be able to do what we do without your support!

Annual General Meeting

Please join us for the School Board and P&F AGMs on Tuesday 19 November from 6pm. The meetings will be held in the Library with light refreshments to follow.

New Uniform Update

As mentioned over the last few weeks, the new OLA uniforms are underway with an expected arrival of items at the end of 2019 (or early 2020). Once the items are available, families are encouraged to visit Nell Gray’s Inglewood Superstore for a fitting, as the new sizes do differ from the previous sizes.

Attached is a visual of the new uniforms and some general information. As we receive updates from Nell Gray, we will keep you informed via the newsletter.

OLA Community Fete 2020 – Veritas Library Hub and Curiosity Lab

With the OLA Community Fete planned for 22 March 2020, we are excited to reveal the proposed designs for the refurbishment of the OLA Veritas Library Hub and the Curiosity Lab. Funds raised during the fete will go towards these two large projects that will see our rooms transformed into 21st Century learning hubs. Thank you to our amazing P&F for their ongoing support of the educational needs of our students.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

This year, we are asking all OLA families to make a gift donation to the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. This appeal seeks to assist others in need including; low-income families, those who are homeless and refugees and migrants. Families are asked to please donate a gift for a child the same age and gender as their own child. For example, a female Year 1 student would purchase a gift for a female 6 or 7 year old. Please give donations (no gift wrapping required) to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 28 November. We thank you for your generosity and support with this initiative.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

See you this Sunday at Bunnings Morley for our fundraising sausage sizzle!

Altar Server Training

The OLA Parish invites all students in Years 4-6 to attend altar server training on Sunday 24 November at 4pm. Fr Ken, Franco Miranda and Nathan Leber (Safeguarding Officer) will meet the children in the Fr O’Mara Centre for a pizza snack followed by training in the church. Families may then like to stay for 5pm Mass after the training session.

Have a nice weekend!
