Principal’s Message – Issue Twelve

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Welcome Back! I hope you all had a wonderful extended two-week break and are looking forward to the very busy Term 3 with all the events we have scheduled.

School Disco

The new date for the school disco is Friday 4 September. This has been updated in the parent calendar. More information will be disseminated to all families in the future. Year 5 parents are currently coordinating the event.

Parents On-site

Commencing in Term 3, parents will be permitted to attend assemblies, masses, special events and enter classrooms, however, with the Phase 4 implementation currently in place, parents are requested to adhere to the social distancing rule of 2 square metres. This includes when attending mass celebrations, and assemblies. Until further restrictions are lifted, I only encourage parents of children receiving merit certificates and/or performing at assemblies, attend these events. If parents choose to enter the classrooms, I also request the social distancing rule applies at all times.

Please check the Term 3 Planner which has all the assemblies scheduled for the Term.  Thank you, once again, for your patience and support during the COVID-19 period.

Social Worker Appointment

Congratulations to Nicole Leach who has been appointed as the new Social Worker at OLA, St Columba’s Bayswater and St Dominic’s Innaloo. This is a fulltime position, over three schools, hence Nicole has resigned as the Nominated OLA OSHC Supervisor. We have advertised the OLA OSHC Nominated Supervisor position and the community will be advised as soon as the successful candidate is appointed.

Nicole will conclude with her OSHC position at the end of this week and will be taking annual leave, over the next couple of weeks, before she commences her new role in Week 4. The OLA OSHC will be operating as normal with Winona Bell & Vanessa O’Neil taking over in the interim, until an OSHC appointment has been made. We wish Nicole all the best in her new role as Social Worker over three schools.

Cross Country

The Junior and Senior Intra-school Cross Country events have been scheduled for Tuesday 28 July. All the details of the events have been included in the flyers disseminated by the classroom teachers and are attached to this newsletter as well. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Sports Coordinator, Ciaran Allsop, at ciaran.allsop@cewa.edu.au

Canteen Closed Week 2

Please be advised due to unavoidable personal leave by our canteen managers, the canteen will be closed during Week 2 this term. The canteen will reopen in Week 3.

Bubs Play at OLA

We are pleased to announce OLA Bubs Play will be recommencing on Friday 24 July, from 9am to 10.30 in Kindy M. Please note that morning tea will not be shared and all children will need their own morning tea and water. Bubs Play is for 0-4 years. Please contact the school should you or someone you know be interested in attending. Thank you.

Thank you.
