Palm Sunday
Merciful God, as we enter Holy week,
turn our hearts again to Jerusalem,
and to the life, death,
and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Stir up within us the gift of faith that we may not only
praise him with our lips, but may
follow him in the way of the cross.
Amen
COVID-19 Update
As mentioned in the text message sent out last week, there have been a number of Covid restrictions lifted and protocols changed over the last few days. These changes were made late last week and have now been ratified by the state government, CEWA and WA Health. In summary, the following changes have been made, commencing Term 2:
- Cohort assemblies will now proceed in Term 2 with only the year group parents permitted to attend the scheduled assembly. Parents are required to continue to wear masks and social distance when attending assemblies. Assembly year level merit certificates will be presented at their assembly, however merit certificates in other year levels will continue to be presented in the classrooms.
- Parents are permitted to enter the school site to collect their children, however are still not permitted to enter the classrooms. Teacher/Parent meetings will now proceed in Term 2, however all adults present must continue to wear a mask and social distance.
- Camps are still not permitted to proceed.
- Excursions may now proceed.
As changes are made in the future to the Covid restrictions and protocols, you will all be advised.

Pupil Free Days
Monday 25 April is a public holiday (ANZAC Day) and Tuesday 26 April is a pupil free day. Students return to school on Wednesday 27 April.
Caritas Walk-a-Thon
This week, our students participated in the Caritas Walk-a-Thon to bring awareness and raise funds for Project Compassion. The Walk-a-Thon laps were based on the tasks people from Mozambique would do in a day, including walking long distances to and from school, collecting water, food and firewood for their families.
It was a great success, raising over $4,000 for Project Compassion!
Congratulations to the students for their efforts and to our families for their support.
Fifth Week of Lent
Week beginning Monday 4th April)
This week through Project Compassion we learn about Shaniella who is attending a vocational school in the Solomon Islands supported by Caritas Australia Solomon Islands (CASI).
Not long after Shaniella started, the school was hit by a landslide, flooding, and a cyclone, all in quick succession.
With your kind support, CASI helped install water tanks, restoring clean water access to nearby schools, health centres and the wider community. Training was held in agricultural skills to help boost the school community’s food security, as well as in environmental risk management and emergency responses.
Now, Shaniella can complete her skills training, with enough water and food to eat, and improved sanitation. She is improving her ability to earn an income, learning skills which will expand her job opportunities. Students are also better prepared to respond when disaster strikes.
Watch a short film about Shaniella’s story here.

Term 2 Calendar
The Term 2 OLA Calendar has now been updated and is attached. The OLA website calendar will be updated during the holidays.
Thank you – OLA P&F
A huge thank you to our P&F Executive Committee members for coordinating the Hot Cross Buns drive and Easter Raffle. Thank you all for taking the time to not only coordinate the above, but for also putting together the Easter Packages. Congratulations to those students who won the raffles and thank you to the community members for donating the prizes.
2023 Pre Kindergarten / Kindergarten Enrolments
A reminder to our current families to submit enrolment applications for siblings as soon as possible to secure a place for your child. We now have waiting lists for both year levels and we certainly wouldn’t want our own siblings missing out. Please contact Jane Sloss on 94713000 or email Jane at enrolments@ola.wa.edu.au
OLA Parent Climate Survey
Attached is the flyer sent home via SMS last week. The closing date for the survey Friday 15 April.

Dianella Library Carpark
We continue to be contacted by both the Library staff and City of Stirling requesting that our parents do not park allocated for the Dianella Library staff as this area (even when spots are vacant) is allocated purely for library employees. It’s only a matter of time before the Ranger is called and infringement notices are issued.
Wishing you a safe and restful two week break and Easter.
Thank you.
