Book Week is coming in Term 4, Week 2!
A little later in the year than usual, Book Week is sure to be worth the wait! We have some great events planned for the week, and will be celebrating our love of reading together. The theme this year is Curious Creatures, Wild Minds!
Illustration Competition
On an A4 sheet of white paper draw and colour in your own Curious Creature. It must be an original creation from your imagination, and don’t forget to give it a name and a short description. Entries can be handed in to Mrs Dale in the library from now until Wednesday 14 October (Week 1). Make sure to include your name and class on your entry, and look out for a fabulous display of your creatures in the library soon!
Scholastic Book Fair
Visit the book fair in the library to fill those book shelves before the summer holidays! There is always a great collection of popular titles to choose from, as well as a wide range of stationary items & posters.
Book fair opening times:
- Mon 19 Oct 3.05-4.00pm
- Tues 20 Oct 8.15-8.40am & 3.05-4.00pm
- Wed 21 Oct 8.15-8.40am & 3.05-4.00pm

Author Visit
WA’s very own Cristy Burne will be entertaining students from PP to Year 5 with her stories of science, adventure and creativity. Our Year 3 & 4 classes have enjoyed reading, To the Lighthouse, during library time this year, so this will be a special treat to meet the author and hear about what inspires her stories.
Costume Parade
Start planning those costumes and come dressed to impress! Remember to choose a book character, use your favourite book or author as inspiration, or perhaps you will come as a curious creature! Remember to bring the book along if you can.
- Kindy: Wednesday 21 October, 9am
- PP-Yr 6: Friday 23 October, 9am
Better Beginnings
Kindy students will enjoy a visit from the librarian at Dianella Library on Wednesday 21 October. They will be sharing stories and more and students will be given a Better Beginnings book bag to bring home.
