Year in Review
As 2022 draws to a close, we look back on another successful year supporting our school community and fundraising, to provide new resources and opportunities for the students of OLA.
The start of the year was once again affected by COVID restrictions. Although this meant pushing back our inaugural Colour Run until Term 4, we were still able to run our other fundraising events – the Easter Raffle and Hot Cross Bun Drive.
In Term 2, we held the annual school disco, organised by the amazing Year 5 parent group and as always, the event was a great success.
With the Leadership Team developing a strong focus on wellness, the P&F were eager to get involved in Wellness Week and contribute to this great initiative. We proudly provided two full day incursions in Term 1 and Term 4, consisting of class yoga and mindfulness lessons for the students and staff. Morning tea was also provided by the parents for the teachers during these weeks.
Term 4 saw the inaugural OLA Colour Run event come to life in a spectacular way. It was the highlight of the year for us, and I dare say a lot of the students. Special thanks to the P&F Colour Run sub-committee, who spent weeks preparing an event that was one to remember.
The success of the day was not only derived from over $8,000 in profit raised, but in the excitement and joy the event provided to OLA students. The aim was to create more than just a ‘Colour Run’, and the team worked tirelessly to create a fun whole school obstacle course for students to complete, whilst getting coloured along the way.
In 2020 the P&F committed to donating $75,000 over 3-5 years toward the refurbishment of the Science Lab and Veritas Library. Earlier this year we donated an additional $30,000 towards this venture, bringing the total donated funds to date to $45,000. We also provided an additional $5,000 towards new library books for the Veritas Library. We look forward to raising the remaining funds for these works into 2023, as well as working with the Leadership Team to provide new literary resources to classrooms.
Heartfelt thanks must be extended to our P&F Committee members – Ann-Maree, Katie, Lina and Magda. These ladies work tirelessly throughout the year in their roles, no idea is too crazy and no request is ever turned down.
I am very fortunate to Chair such a supportive and helpful committee, who are all driven by a shared desire to enrich the OLA community and provide opportunities and experiences for our children. We’re also keen to see this group evolve. If you want to get involved in 2023, please reach out – we’d love to have you on board!
The P&F would like to thank Greg, Mike, Anella and all the OLA staff for their continued support and encouragement. Our school is so fortunate to be led by such a motivated and committed team.
We look forward to another great year for our school community in 2023.
Merry Christmas and see you all in 2023!
