A Prayer for Corpus Christi
Dear Lord Jesus,
You made the ultimate sacrifice so that You could wash away the sins of the whole world. You have left us the great gift of your body and blood through the Holy Eucharist. We thank you and praise you every day.
Amen
Bogan Bingo
Last Friday night, the P&F held the Bogan Bingo event and what an amazing event it was! Bogan Bingo was certainly a hit amongst our community, and it was wonderful to see everyone get into the theme of the evening. We can now proudly say our Assistant Principal, Mike Morris, is Bogan King of OLA.
Sincere thanks to the P&F Executive and everyone who helped make the night a success. It truly was a memorable night!
Please refer to the Parents and Friends page of this newsletter for more information about fundraising opportunities at OLA and upcoming events. Remember, without the support of the whole community these events cannot go ahead. Please volunteer wherever you can.
Thank You
Thank you to the P&F for donating the funds to purchase new decodable readers, Spelling Mastery teacher resources, Lego sets and Chess boards for the school. We greatly appreciate your generous contributions!
A Message from Our Students – Milo Mondays
The Christian Ministry Leadership Group has organised a chocolate event! In Weeks 9 and 10, on Monday mornings, we will be selling hot cups of milo for a gold coin donation. Cups of milo will be sold at the canteen in the Sister Goretti Hall from 8:00. All the money raised will go to a good cause, Saint Vincent de Paul. All proceeds will be used for the Winter Appeal, which helps needy people in Perth during this cold season.
We all hope to see you there on Monday!

SEQTA Engage – Online Reports
Yesterday, every family would have received an invitation email, with a link, to create a SEQTA account. The link is only active for seven days, so please check your Junk/Spam folders if you have not yet received it. New families will need to follow the link to create their own account. Once an account has been established, parents will be able to log on to the site any time and download their children’s Academic Reports. The SEQTA Engage logo/link is embedded on our school’s website home page and parents can log on via this link as well.
If you created an account last year, you do not need to create a new account this year.
If you do not remember your username from last year, please contact Chris Balen in the office. Once you have your correct username, you can then reset your password to access your account.
The process to create an account has been attached for you. We do anticipate some teething problems but we’re confident these will be rectified before reports go live. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to either phone Michael Morris or email him at michael.morris@cewa.edu.au
Cyber Safety
Last week, there were some cyber security incidents across a range of institutions, including Catholic Education. OLA was not affected by the incidents, however, CEWA have encouraged us to pass on the attached communication to all members of the school community.

Clubs at OLA
Starting next term, Chess Club will be held in the OLA Library on Tuesdays at lunchtime and Lego Club will be held on Thursdays at lunchtime. A BIG thank you to the OLA P&F for their donation so that we can purchase Lego sets and Chess boards. We appreciate your never-ending support of our students.
OSHC Commencing at OLA
As communicated previously to the community, OLA will be opening an OSHC Centre (Before and After School Care, as well as Holiday Care), commencing Week 1, Term 3. We are currently waiting for the OSHC Regulatory Body to approve the centre and we’re confident this will occur over the next few weeks. Enrolment forms will be distributed to those interested over the next couple of weeks.
Uniform Update
The OLA School Board is now moving ahead with designs for the new OLA uniforms. Over the coming months, designs will be drafted and samples made so that the Board can review the design, quality and cost of the items. The aim is to create modern uniforms that embrace the new style of the school that has come about from the introduction of the new crest. As more information becomes available, we will notify the school community.
Resilience Article
Building resilience in our students is paramount at OLA, and we work closely with families and students to ensure they are facing life’s challenges with the safety net of OLA behind them. This week, an interesting article was released in The West Australian, it may be of interest to you.

Clothing Collection Bins Near Crosswalk (Dianella Plaza)
A number of parents have raised concerns with me about the area around the clothing collection bins in the Dianella Plaza car park, next to the crosswalk directly in front of the back gate (near the tennis courts). Many families use this entrance in the mornings and afternoons.
I have raised our concerns, with Dianella Plaza Management, about the state of the area, and the possibility of moving the bins to another area away from the crosswalk. As you can appreciate this is out of my jurisdiction and there’s not really a lot I can do. Having stated this, I am hoping (and confident) the Dianella Plaza Centre Management will take on board my suggestions of keeping the area free of debris and rubbish and possibly moving the bins to another location.
Have a great weekend!
Mr Greg Martin
