Walk for Water – WHAT A DAY!
Well done OLA! AMAZING RESULT! I’m so proud of all the students, teachers and parents who made Walk for Water come together so well. Special thanks to Ms Vanessa Knight for her organisation and planning.
To date, we have raised $5133.50 for Caritas Australia. That is just incredible and all due to the generosity of the OLA Community.
Tuesday 16 June was the most gorgeous winter’s day for a walk. ALL children showed up with a bucket and felt what it was actually like to fill a bucket with water and walk a long distance. Children walked for 10-25 minutes and tried not to spill any water. They loved the challenges set up by the Christian Leadership Ministry – walking over planks, following the path of dots and a bridge! Hopefully, children realised what it meant to have to carry water and to appreciate that we have clean, fresh water readily available to us.
Your very generous contributions will ease the strain of so many families who are struggling right now. Thank you!
St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
Perth needs our help again this winter. At OLA we are starting an initiative that will continue into Term 3. All Year 6 Ministry groups will be involved in assisting with the winter appeal. These are the ideas that were discussed and we are asking for your help OLA! Donations are requested as follows:
- Kindy & Pre-Primary classes: Tins and Teddies (collect healthy tinned food and new or used cuddly play toys)
- Years 1 & 2 classes: Soup and Socks (collect for a variety of tastes and sizes, for children, women and men)
- Years 3 & 4 classes: Beanies and Blankets (it’s about keeping heads and bodies protected)
- Years 5 & 6 classes: Keep Me Warm! (This theme was chosen for its variety of opportunities to give to those less fortunate!)
All donations can be brought into classrooms.
