School of Rock ‘n’ Rainbow

Last Friday’s School of Rock ‘n’ Rainbow school disco was a great success, with over 300 students dancing the night away and almost $2000 raised for the P&F! Congratulations to the winners of the door prizes – Anton from PPG and Ava from 6G who can now sing their hearts out on their Karaoke LED Microphones! Congratulations also go to the Year 6 Girls who took out the Perpetual Dance-Off competition. Their dance to Old Town Road was fantastic!

As always, events like this don’t just happen. It takes a team of dedicated parents to put together a night like the school disco and this year was the first time that a year group has been handed the responsibility. So, well done to the members of the Year 5 Disco Committee, who worked so hard to make the night a success. Led by the incredible Josie Macri, the committee included Laura Ocello, Belinda Papalia, Loretta Della Posta, Christina Macri, Tiki Cicchini, Jenny McLeod and Shaun Lacey.

There were also many volunteers who helped on the night, from checking in the kids at the start of the evening to selling food in the canteen. Each job is important, and we thank all the parents (and some students!) who gave their time.

Thank you also to the Leadership Team for their support and to Chris Balen and Franco Arace for their assistance. Let’s see what next year’s Year 5 Parents can come up with!

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle – Sunday 17 November

Calling all sausage slingers and sellers! The P&F Committee will be running a sausage sizzle at Bunnings’ Morley store on Sunday 17 November. All proceeds from the sausage sizzle will help us continue to fund new equipment for the school. If you would like to volunteer for a shift – each shift will run for approximately two hours – then please email the P&F Committee.

Cards that Count – Celebration Cards

We are pleased to bring back Cards that Count, the creative initiative that turns children’s artwork into beautiful greeting cards professionally printed in WA on 100% recycled card.

Last year the designs were limited to just Christmas cards but this year students can let their imaginations run wild and design birthday cards, Easter cards, thank you cards or any other celebration or greeting card they like! In addition, this year students can submit more than one design, if they wish.

By now each student should have received an artwork template from their class teacher. More templates are available from the front office should your child require another template. Please do not photocopy the templates as each template has a unique code for processing. The artwork can be created using paint, textas, pencils, crayons, oil pastels, gel pens and felt tip pens. Please do not use glitter or glue as the cards cannot be processed using these materials.

The completed templates are due back to your class teacher by the last day of term, Friday 27 September. You will note that the templates have two sides this year, please return the whole form to the class teacher – do not detach the artwork template from the parent information sheet – this will be provided back to the student once the designs are ready for ordering. To provide the students with additional time to complete the artwork templates, Mrs Barclay will be opening the library on Mondays and Wednesdays between 8am and 8.30am and during lunchtimes on these days until the end of term. If your child would like to complete their artwork during this time, they will need to bring their template and pencil case to the library with them. Any completed templates will still need to be handed back to the class teacher.

Each pack of 10 cards costs $15 and raises $5 for the school.
