RICE is Alive at OLA!

Italian

During this term, students have been really busy and excited to learn their items for the Italian Assembly, showing compassion when working together during practice time and sharing their ideas on how to improve their items.

We also continued with our Italian program, learning about how to share information about ourselves, including our favourite animal in Pre-Primary and Year One, activities we do during the day in Year Two, how to describe ourselves in Year Three, talking about our favourite subjects in Year Four, talking about a room in our house in Year Five and sharing information about our favourite free time activities in Year Six.

Pre-Primary and Year 3 students have also helped with creating the props that they will be using for their Assembly Item and showed the value of compassion by helping and giving advice to each other to create amazing little fish and super stars.

The students are looking forward to all the cooking activities planned for Italian Week and to all the action that will take place on Italian Day, including the Assembly, Italian games and buddy time.

Music

This has been a very busy term for Music at OLA.  Our students in Years One, Three and Five had opportunity to showcase their musical and dramatic talent through participation in the Performing Arts Festival. It was wonderful to see our students displaying all the OLA values, and in particular, the Term 3 focus value – compassion.  While compassion does mean empathy and support for those in need, it also encompasses the spirit of ‘mateship’ and mutual support. It was inspiring to see the students working together as they rehearsed, helping and prompting each other as they worked on their performances. All their dedicated work paid off, and our students gave very polished performances. A total of 50 students from Years Two to Five also volunteered their weekend time to come along and sing at our recent Confirmation ceremonies, and their singing and behaviour were exemplary. Well done to all!
